Communities of Opportunity
HomeSight is the place-based lead agency for Communities of Opportunity (COO) Rainer Valley. The unique initiative is a collaborative effort by Public Health Seattle and King County, The Seattle Foundation, and community-based coalitions. Together, they address inequities in health, housing, economic development, and community connections.
The Communities of Opportunity Rainer Valley coalition includes four organizations:
On Board Othello (OBO
Multi-cultural Community Center (MCC)
South Seattle Organizing for Racial and Regional Equity (SouthCORE)
The Rainier Valley collaboration was one of three initial recipients of the funding. The other recipients include Global to Local and White Center Community Development Association. Each organization receives funds each year to implement strategies to address health, housing, and economic opportunity disparities in these target areas.
